MARC-Medical Enrichment and Development
(MMED) Summer Program 2005
Six-Week Medical Enrichment Program at Coahoma Community College.
The purpose of this program is to provide informational, technical, and financial assistance to minority and disadvantaged college students who have a desire to work in primary health care in rural underserved areas of Mississippi after they obtain their prospective degrees.
The goal of MMED is to offer courses that will increase the student’s proficiency in the disciplines that will assist the students in obtaining their health career goals, i.e. Math, Sciences, and Reasoning skills. Further, the students will supplement their classroom education with clinical placements in rural underserved area Community Health Centers, clinics, private physicians’ offices, and hospitals.
Participation in MMED involves a full-time commitment (at least 40 hours per week) for 6 weeks.
